Medicine Chest

I have been hunting for a table for my tiny entrance foyer for more than a year. Everytime we shopped, we either ended up empty handed due to prices or we bought something else. So, that little notch was left empty for the longest time.

It was difficult to hunt. The space only allows a maximum of 135cm length by 55cm wide piece of furniture. In my mind, I always wanted an antique scroll table with probably 2 drawers and display a white porcelain Laughing Buddha on it.

We tried Just Anthony but was always reminded that our space is too small.

Saw an advertisement from Li Bai. Popped in and found several pieces. But either the sizes was not right or the stain was not ideal.

I gave up.

Then I saw a piece of medicine chest tucked in a corner. Beautiful legs. Upturned flange. But the stain was just not right. I wanted a black stain with rubbed edges. The shop owner decided that she can stain it black and rubbed the edges. I was very tempted. I walked and walked around the shop just thinking if additional work to the piece of medicine chest would do justice. Then, we proceeded with the purchase.

Back home, I thought and thought. It would really not do justice to the piece of furniture with such nice wood veins, knots and rings. The black stain is going to destroy it! So, I picked up the phone and decided not to get it stained black.

Today, it was delivered.

TADAA!!!!

Looks like the wall space above the chest is just too empty…….
